The Harbours-Department of the Infrastructure Business Unit is responsible for the management and development of eight statutory harbours and their berths, as well as coastal protection services and coastal pollution planning in the area of maritime oil spills. The department operates and maintains the harbours, creates harbour regulations, and owns the foreshore zones up to high water mark and territorial sea up to 12 miles. The Harbours-Department aims to offer installations and services that meet the needs of current and future customers and manages maritime-related economic and leisure opportunities. The operational area includes the Isle of Man, and the department has been in operation since at least 2018, as evidenced by the publication of the Harbours Strategy Document - GD 2018-0011.
