Segelschiff "Thor Heyerdahl" is a Dreimast-Toppsegelschoner that has been sailing the seas since 1930. The ship and its crew offer unique sailing trips and are part of a community dedicated to preserving traditional sailing practices. Since 2009, the ship has been operated by a gemeinnützigen GmbH which plans and manages voyages and collaborations. Founded in 2026 as the "Thor Heyerdahl" Stiftung, the project aims to continue Detlef Soitzek's legacy after his retirement. The organization recently elected a new board of directors on April 28, 2026. The ship participates annually in the Kieler Woche maritime event.
