Sugar Integrated Industries Hawamdia Egypt is focused on the production of sugar, specifically from sugarcane. The company has prepared a feasibility study for establishing a sugar factory in Wadi al-Nakura, Kom Ombo/South Sinai, with an estimated annual production capacity of 150,000 tons of sugar and an investment cost of approximately $110 million. It aims to provide about 600 permanent jobs and around 1,600 seasonal and temporary positions. The company intends to explore cultivating between 50,000 to 80,000 acres in Wadi West Kom Ombo for sugarcane or sugar beet. The average yield of sugar beet is about 16 tons per acre, with each ton of sugar beet producing approximately 2 tons of sugar, compared to 4.5 tons of sugar from an average sugarcane acre. This means that one sugarcane acre equals the production of 2.25 acres of sugar beet in terms of sugar output.
