Service Transport Enterprise began in 1965 as a state-level carrier for the Texas state government for petroleum, petrochemicals, and waste liquids. In 1980, the company received an EPA permit as a waste transportor. In 1986, Service Transport Enterprise was approved by the Interstate Commerce Commission as a carrier for 40 states and as a contract carrier in the United States. In 1988, the permit extended the carrier's rights to a non-radial joint carrier in all 40 states. In the late 1990s, the carrier was approved by both Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. In 2003, Service Transport Enterprise was recognized by the Canada Border Services Agency as a "Customs Self-Assessment" carrier in Canada. The company operates terminals in Houston, Corpus Christi, Freeport, Beaumont (Texas), and St. Gabriel and St. Rose (Louisiana).
