Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation (PWSAC) was founded in 1974 and produces hatchery-born, ocean-raised wild salmon for various fisheries in the Prince William Sound and Copper River regions. PWSAC averages 43 percent of the total PWS salmon harvest volume and 45 percent of its value. The corporation impacts over 1,400 jobs annually with an economic output of more than $192 million. It feeds approximately 5,400 Alaskans each year in over 50 communities. PWSAC is a private, non-profit hatchery association that aims to ethically and professionally optimize salmon production for the long-term well-being of all user groups.
