Heyerdahl Thor is a museum dedicated to Thor Heyerdahl, showcasing his expeditions and voyages, including the Kon-Tiki, Ra, Ra II, and Tigris. The museum is located on Bygdøyhalvøya in Oslo and features the original balsa boats from the Kon-Tiki expedition and the sivboat Ra II. Thor Heyerdahl was an experimental archaeologist, author, and adventurer, most famous for his 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition, where he sailed 8,000 km across the Pacific Ocean. The museum offers private arrangements and tours in or outside opening hours. The Thor Heyerdahl archive, listed on UNESCO's register of world heritage, includes 238 collections from around the world spanning from 1937 to 2002. The museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 from September to April, and from 09:30 to 18:00 from June to August, with extended hours until 15:00 on July 31 and New Year's Eve.
