C-Power is a Belgian company established to develop, build and operate a far shore wind farm on the Thornton Bank, situated in the North Sea, 30 km from the Belgian shoreline. C-Power had obtained all permits and licenses in 2003 and finalised the construction phase in 2013. The wind farm consists of 54 wind turbines with a total capacity of 325 MW, generating 1000 GWh of renewable energy annually, equivalent to the annual average electricity consumption of 300,000 families. This results in a reduction of CO2 emissions by 415,000 tonnes per year compared to a gas-fired power plant. The company was founded in 2003 and operates in the North Sea.
