Cygnus Maritime Ltd. was a company that had been engaged in the production ofGRP-ships for more than 30 years and was founded in Falmouth in 1972. The company produced various boats, including fast fishing boats for the worldwide popular mackerel trawling technology, as well as stronger, reliable fishing boats. Cygnus Marine also had a branch in Truro called SteelShip, where high-quality steel and aluminum fishing boats up to 120 feet long were manufactured. One example of their boats is the Cygnus SF33/38, a large displacement fishing boat with a length of 10 meters. The company was particularly known for its robust construction quality and reliability. Cygnus Marine is now closing, but its successor will continue to manufacture boats under the Cygnus-Marine brand.
