Stichting Sch 236 Noordster was founded in Scheveningen on 30 September 2016. The goal of the foundation is to restore and use the ship as a museum ship, similar to the original Aurora m.s. from 1949, which was originally built as SCH 236 'Noordster'. The restoration of the ship was initially planned to take one or three years, but due to the Corona pandemic, it has been doubled and will now be completed by the end of 2024. The ship is registered under the national register of mobile cultural goods. The foundation has five board members: Arie Taal (Chairman), Teun van Dijk (Secretary), Daniël Nederpelt (Treasurer), Nico Buijs (Technical Matters), and Nico Mos (Deputy Treasurer). The ship, which is being restored, was originally a haring ship, but it will serve as a museum ship.
