General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) is a Libyan joint-stock company fully owned by the Libyan state, founded in 1975 and headquartered in Tripoli. The company operates a fleet of 18 tankers with a total deadweight exceeding 1.8 million metric tons, specializing in the transport of crude oil and its derivatives. GNMTC was established with an initial capital of 100 million Libyan dinars, which increased to 500 million dinars in 2008 and further to 1,200 million dinars by 2009. The company's fleet includes LR2 tankers and oil product tankers. GNMTC recently announced a public auction sale and held its ordinary general assembly meeting in the presence of the Honorable Minister of Transport.
