Synergy Marine Group and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have formalised their strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 22, 2026, in Kochi. The collaboration aims to jointly pursue shipbuilding, repair, and conversion projects in India, leveraging the strengths of both organisations to enhance their commercial offerings.

The MoU was signed by Ajay Chaudhry, Co-CEO of Ship Management at Synergy Marine Group, and Rajesh Gopalakrishnan, Director (Technical) at CSL, in the presence of Jesper Kristensen, Group CEO of Synergy Marine Group, and Jose V J, Chairman and Managing Director of CSL. The signing ceremony took place at the Cochin Shipyard facility in Kochi and marks a significant step towards expanding both companies' presence in the Indian shipbuilding and repair market.

The MoU provides a framework for joint business development across several areas, including ship repair, conversion, newbuilding, module fabrication, and oil and gas projects. Synergy has supported the delivery of over 250 newbuilding projects and currently manages more than 150 vessels under construction at 20 shipyards across six countries. This includes conversion projects such as transforming LNG carriers into floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

CSL, as the largest shipyard in India, offers substantial industrial capacity and a proven track record in shipbuilding and repair. The partnership will enable both companies to provide comprehensive project management services, from feasibility studies and engineering design to equipment procurement and site supervision.
