Oceania Sonata Launched at Marghera Shipyard

Fincantieri and Oceania Cruises have celebrated the launch of the Oceania Sonata at the Marghera shipyard, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into a new generation of luxury cruise ships. The newbuild, which is the first unit of the Sonata class, is expected to deliver in 2027 and will accommodate 1,390 passengers, featuring spacious public areas and a design aimed at offering an exclusive travel experience. According to the companies, the Sonata class builds upon the acclaimed Allura class, with two previous ships, the Oceania Vista and Allura, having been delivered in 2023 and 2025 respectively.

The Oceania Sonata is the first of four sister ships in the new Sonata class. Following the Oceania Sonata in 2029, three additional vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2032, 2035, and 2037. The Marghera shipyard, with over a century of industrial history, has built 36 cruise ships since 1991 and currently involves approximately 6,000 people on a daily basis.
