Starfleet Marine Transport is an organization that brings together Star Trek fans and offers them various ways to engage and strengthen their communities. Starfleet Marine Transport provides members access to a wide range of resources, including academic courses and diplomas, as well as opportunities to participate in events and activities. The organization is divided into over 200 Chapters, which relate to ships of the Line or space stations, and offers members the opportunity to meet other fans and carry out joint activities. Starfleet Marine Transport also has a hierarchy with a Chain of Command similar to that in the Star Trek series. Each Chapter is led by a Commanding Officer and a First Officer who report to Regional Coordinators, who in turn belong to the Board of Directors.
