Okinawa Jari Saishu is a sand mining cooperative established in 1972, consisting of eight companies in Okinawa. The cooperative uses specialized sand mining vessels to extract sea sand from around the Okinawa main island for construction and civil engineering materials. They have been operating for over 50 years, providing a sustainable supply of sand for regional infrastructure development. Okinawa Jari Saishu has two sand mining vessels and supplies sand for various purposes including concrete materials, landfill projects, and artificial beach construction. The cooperative aims to balance the natural and social aspects of Okinawa.
