Enermar was founded in the autumn of 2002 by important Genovese shipping entrepreneurs and began operating in Sardinia on the La Maddalena – Palau route, taking over a branch of the "TRIS" company that had been active since 1991. In early 2004, the Moby Group joined Enermar, expanding its commercial presence across much of Europe. In 2006, without public funding, Enermar implemented its own public service by taking over seven unprofitable but crucial routes for territorial continuity in Sardinia during specific hours. All vessels are ISM certified and SOLAS compliant for human life protection. Enermar also provides cargo transportation services on request outside the regular lines.
