OMV NEW ZEALAND LIMITED was founded in 1999 when the company acquired shares in the Maari Oil Field development. Today, the firm operates three offshore fields (Maari, Māui, and Pohokura) as well as onshore infrastructure in Taranaki. Maari field production began in 2009 with the Tiro Tiro Moana platform and currently includes nine production wells and two water injection wells. Reverse Osmosis technology reduces emissions by approximately 7,500 tonnes per year, with a second phase planned. OMV New Zealand also operates the Ōmata Tank Farm, a Major Hazard Facility, and has documented a safety feature that supports compliance with regulations. The company works closely with local tribes, communities, and regulators to deliver sustainable projects and achieve positive impacts in affected regions.
