Seefuchs GbR operates the former fishing cutter ship "SAS 316 Heringshai," which has been used as a research vessel and cruise cutter in the Baltic Sea since 1993. The ship was operated under the status "Traditionsschiff" according to the guidelines of the Federal Ministry for Transport of the Federal Republic of Germany and had a Ship Safety Certificate from the Seafarers' Occupational Association. Its areas of operation included marine research, marine environmental protection, maritime and sea radio history. The ship was decommissioned from fishing in 1991 and was operated as a volunteer cutter for 24 years until its transfer to the ownership of SeaEye e.V.
