Malcolm Marine, Inc., a family-owned company, was founded in 1960 by Captain Keith Malcolm and his wife Barb. The company provided services in the areas of shipbuilding, towing, rescue, icebreaking, and other specialized fields. Malcolm Marine was particularly known for its work in the North Sea, where they successfully completed the difficult task of salvaging metal pipes from the sunken tug Nordmeer in Thunder Bay in 1966. The company operated several tugs, including Tug Barbara Ann and Tug Malcolm. Malcolm Marine had its main office in St. Clair, Michigan, and was an important part of the Great Lakes maritime community. The company was founded in 1960 and operated for 64 years until the Malcolm family decided to close the business in early 2024 to live in retirement.
