VOF Commander is a company that operates its ship mainly on the Rijn and in the region Amsterdam - Rotterdam - Antwerpen as well as Vlissingen, Terneuzen, and Gent. The company was founded in 1991 by Hans Buitendijk and Ronald Versloot. Their ship, built in 2008, has a length of 135 meters, a width of 15 meters, and can carry up to 5977 tonnes of cargo. It is equipped with two Caterpillar engines with a total power of 2246 PS for propulsion as well as two Caterpillar generators with a total power of 894 PS for the propellers and pumps. VOF Commander deals with safety and modern requirements of sea transportation, which is evident from their decision to build a new, larger double-hull tankship in 2003.
