The Seamen's Church Institute's Ministry on the River (MOR) has served America’s towboat mariners since the 1990s. MOR offers pastoral counseling, support, and fellowship to thousands of professional mariners working aboard towboats, harbor tugs, and dredges on the Mississippi River system and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways. The ministry operates 24/7/365 and provides the only such network of pastoral care available on American inland waterways. MOR’s chaplains serve a community where most mariners live on their boats for six to eight months annually, working in shifts that require them to be away from their families and communities. The ministry supports over 200 years of seafarer services provided by the Seamen's Church Institute.
