Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) has been established as the country's first terminal for handling coal, clinker, and cement on a build, operate, and transfer (BOT) basis at Port Qasim Authority. Located 50 kilometers from Karachi, it features a 45-kilometer-long navigation channel suitable for vessel traffic. PIBT has built capacity to handle up to 12 million tons of coal and 4 million tons of cement and clinker annually, with potential to increase this to 20 million tons per year. The terminal serves power and cement plants across Pakistan through rail, road, and sea networks. PIBT's vision is to transform the handling of dirty bulk cargo, enhance port infrastructure in Pakistan, and improve logistics supply chains. As of 2021, PIBT has achieved ISO certification for quality, health, safety, and environmental management.
