SRIA – Ship Recycling Industries Association (India) is an organization that advocates for the welfare of ship dismantling activities in India. It was founded to protect the rights of its member firms and ensure that ship recycling enterprises apply sustainable and safe practices. The center of its activities is located in Alang, where hundreds of ships are delivered annually for dismantling. SRIA conducts training programs to help enhance employee skills and ensure all safety standards are met. The Alang Bazaar is a unique market where ships are broken down for their parts, and everything from kitchen utensils to furniture and electrical devices is sold there.
