Lotsenbrüderschaft Elbe is the largest and one of the oldest pilot associations in the world, founded by 280 independent pilots serving the Elbe River. With three 24/7 manned stations in Hamburg, Brunsbüttel, and Cuxhaven, and a pilot vessel named Elbe, they ensure safe shipping on the Unterelbe and German Bight as well as in various harbors. They provide boarding services for ships approaching Hamburg, offering seamless navigation even in adverse weather conditions. Their pilots are experienced seafarers with the highest nautical qualifications and specialized training. The association handles ship transfers between different pilot associations and operates from locations such as Hamburg-Teufelsbrück, Brunsbüttel, and Cuxhaven. In 2019, they served a total of 660,640 vessels.
