The project was initiated on December 5, 2015, and is being developed under a DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) model. With a capacity for 18,000+ TEU ships, the port is strategically positioned just 10 nautical miles from major international shipping routes, making it an ideal transshipment hub. The port can handle large vessels due to its natural depth of 18 meters close to shore and is designed to be future-ready with scalable infrastructure. As of 2025, the port has not yet commenced operations but aims to become a preferred international transshipment gateway known for operational excellence and sustainability.
