MASA, the Malaysia Shipowners' Association, was established in 1976 to protect and promote the interests of Malaysian shipowners. With a membership of over 300 ordinary and associate members, MASA plays a central role in the development of the shipping industry in Malaysia. The association provides services such as domestic shipping license consent letters and standard operating procedures, and offers training programs for seafarers and the maritime community. MASA has been promoting its Seafarers' Fund since 2008 to assist Malaysian seafarers in need. As of 2016, MASA had over 30 years of experience in supporting the growth of the Malaysian shipping industry.
