The Japanischer Schiffsgesellschaften-Verwaltungskuratorien-Verein was founded as a nonprofit organization in 2006. The main activity of the association includes publishing manuals for ship handling, such as the "Innerseeschißfverwaltungshandbuch" (2022). The association organizes regular editorial meetings for the manual. The members of the board changed in July 2025. The head office was relocated to a new address in October 2025.
