GILLES REIGNER is a company specializing in the development and production of fully electric yachts. The company has developed the GR63, a 63-ft ketch design entirely powered by solar and wind energy. The GR63 features 11.5 kW solar panels, two 6 kW wind turbines, and a 282 kWh battery bank for energy supply. As a backup, methanol fuel cells are installed. The ship uses a 31-tonne lightship hull made of basalt, carbon, and aramid composite materials with titanium deck structures. GILLES REIGNER is working on the CE Category A-Z certification of the yacht. The company is also interested in developing an automated hydroponic system in the bow to cultivate fresh greenery on the sea. The firm plans to collaborate with a few European shipyards to bring the GR63 design to fruition.
