The Institute of Marine Engineers (India) (IME(I)) is a leading organizational hub for marine engineers in India, founded on 29 October 1977 as a national division of the Institute of Marine Engineers, London. Its first board of directors was appointed in 1980 and it was registered as a charitable organization under the Bombay Public Trust Act in 1982. IME(I) offers members a variety of services including courses in Mumbai, Kochi, Goa, and Kolkata, as well as an online registration portal for new members. The Institute publishes the Marine Engineers Review (MER) and iMèlange, a monthly news magazine. IME(I) is engaged in the scientific advancement of marine engineering and promotes the exchange of ideas and information within the engineering profession.
