Mercmarine Training Academy, established in 1986, is the first private maritime training facility in Sri Lanka. Located in Dehiwala, Kaluthara South, and Kaluthara North, the academy offers a range of courses including officer and rating training and short courses. Approved by the Director General of Merchant Shipping Sri Lanka and ISO 9001:2015 certified, the academy has won several awards, including the Lloyd’s List Salute to Maritime Excellence Awards in 2001, the Sea Trade Education & Training Award in 2012 and 2013, and the Maritime Standard Award in 2014. The academy's facilities include state-of-the-art simulators, well-equipped classrooms, and extensive docks for practical training. Established in 1986, Mercmarine Training Academy has been a pioneer in maritime education in Sri Lanka.
