Society of Maritime Arbitrators (SMA) is a New York-based non-profit organization recognized as an internationally leading forum for maritime arbitration. The SMA hosted several events in 2025, including a seminar at the New York City Bar Association on seabed mining and an Annual General Meeting where members discussed dispute resolution methods. At ICMA XXII in Singapore, Steffen Pedersen presented on U.S. seabed mining policy. The SMA also honored John F. Ring, Jr., with its second annual Achievement Award for his significant contributions to the maritime industry. Founded in 1970, the SMA has been serving the maritime arbitration community for over five decades.
