The Liberian Shipowners' Council (LSC) was established in 1974 and is a Full Member of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). Its mission is to ensure that Liberian-flag shipowners operate their vessels to the highest practical standards of quality, safety, and environmental protection while retaining cost-effective advantages. LSC provides its members with access to sophisticated information resources and professional analysis as key benefits. The organization advocates for the open register system and protects shipowners' rights to choose their flag. LSC serves as the collective voice of Liberian-flag shipowners, articulating and advocating positions to the Liberian Administration and other government regulators.
