ChaTo, based in San Francisco Japantown, specializes in premium Japanese green teas such as matcha, sencha, houjicha, genmaicha, mugicha, and gyokuro. They offer colored matcha shakers crafted using Kaga Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional Japanese craft with over 400 years of history. Since 2016, ChaTo has been providing tea brewing essentials for both beginners and experts. The company partners with small producers in Shizuoka, Kagoshima, Uji, and Fukuoka to supply their collection. They also offer Koju, a rare Japanese tea from the mountains of Shizuoka. ChaTo's kyusu (teapot) used at the shop is over 45 years old and was previously used by Sachiko's grandmother.
