IACS, the International Association of Classification Societies, is an organization that focuses on developing new instruments to enhance safety in emerging technologies and greenhouse gas emissions from ships. It actively works on the development of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MAS-ships) and supports the industry in the safety-conscious integration of nuclear power into ship design and operations. IACS is engaged to ensure that ships comply with the IGF Code and other relevant regulations. The organization holds an end-user workshop on 18./19. November 2026 in London. IACS was founded in the year 1913, and it is a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
