EThekwini Maritime Cluster (EMC) is a non-profit enterprise with the aim to support and promote the maritime sector in Durban and sometimes also in other parts of KwaZulu-Natal. EMC has implemented a range of programmes since its establishment in 2013, targeting various aspects of the maritime sector. The company is engaged in shaping the maritime sector globally competitive and planning for human resource development in the maritime industry. EMC fosters the growth of the boat and shipbuilding as well as shipping sectors through specific programs. The organisation works closely with companies, government bodies, and Transnet to overcome infrastructure and institutional challenges. EMC also offers education and training in the maritime sector to introduce talented individuals into the field.
