The firm was founded in 1996 in Tromsø as part of the international shipping conglomerate Eimskip Group, to carry chilled goods with refrigerated vessels between Norway, Iceland, and the USA. In 1999, Giske Shipping in Ålesund was taken over, expanding the offer to worldwide freight forwarding services for frozen fish products. In 2003, a branch was established in Fredrikstad to serve ships sailing to the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, and the USA.
