Kalyon Shipping & Trading Co. Inc. was founded in the 1920s by Mustafa Telli, who started with wooden small sailing boats. In 1974, the company built Turkey’s first sheet-iron-made tanker, M/T Merzifon. Kemal Telli, the youngest son of Mustafa Telli, joined the business in 1953 and established "Kalyon Shipping" and "Kemal Telli Tanker Ownership" companies in 1982 and 1992, respectively. The company operates a fleet of modern small tanker vessels with tonnages between 1,000 and 6,000 DWTs. Located in Sisli, Istanbul, Kalyon Shipping & Trading Co. Inc. continues its operations as the fourth generation of the family. The company was established in 1961 and has a long history of shipping and trading in the Turkish maritime sector.
