Basle Port Authority (Schweizerische Rheinhäfen) was founded in 2008 through the merger of the Rheinhäfen Basel-Landschaft and the Rheinschifffahrtsdirektion Basel-Stadt. The company today serves as the national transportation hub at the Goods Traffic Corridor Rotterdam-Basel-Genua. They annually handle six million tons of goods and over 100,000 containers transferred in the port areas of Basel-Kleinhüningen, Birsfelden, and Muttenz Au. One third of all liters of mineral oil and one fourth of all containers are processed through the Rhine terminals. The Schweizerischen Rheinhäfen manage a fleet of ships and provide emergency, pilot, and towing services in the harbor area. Their headquarters is located at Hochbergerstrasse 160 in Basel, Postfach CH-4019 Basel Switzerland.
