Watertruck+ is a European project that introduced an innovative concept for transporting goods on small waterways (CEMT I-IV). The company built eighteen watertrucks, ten of which are designed for use on CEMT Class I waterways and the remaining eight for CEMT Class II. These vessels can be deployed in Flanders and northern France. Group De Cloedt invested in sixteen barges mainly operated between Diksmuide and Ostend, primarily for transporting soil. Four of these barges are equipped with smart technology allowing them to sail independently. The total budget for the project was 13,515,703 euros, with significant contributions from Group De Cloedt and André Celis Group, as well as support from Europe and De Vlaamse Waterweg nv. In 2021, Watertruck+ managed to transport 250,000 tons of goods, reducing the number of lorries on roads by 10,000.
