KOMDI inspects packaged dangerous goods in accordance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code. The organization also approves packaging for dangerous goods to ensure compliance with international standards. KOMDI trains personnel involved in the handling of maritime dangerous goods and conducts research and development to transmit regulatory information to industries. Additionally, KOMDI participates in international meetings of organizations such as the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCETDG), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds) as an advisory body for the Republic of Korea. KOMDI is located in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
