Norwegian Shipbuilders is a company that specializes in the construction of special ships. The contract with Trinity House includes the building of two multi-functional buoy and lighthouse holding vessels, designed according to the VARD 9 601-design. These ferries are designed as robust, environmentally friendly, and operationally efficient ships, combining maintenance services with hydrographic surveys and administrative tasks. VARD Marine in Canada and Vard Design in Norway have participated in the design phase. The ferries will be built based on British suppliers to support the local economy. Construction is planned for 2029 and will either take place at the sales office of VARD in Norway or another Norwegian shipyard location.
