Niedersachsisches Hafenamt Brake is a multifunctional specialist harbour on the Weser, specializing in the handling of feedstuffs, grain, forest products, iron and steel. Modern handling and silo installations extend along a 2.1 km long river quay with eight ship berths. The harbour features a maximum draft of 11.9 m (planned to be 12.8 m). The southern harbour area is used for the handling of grain and feedstuffs, while breakbulk products such as cellulose and wood, scrap, and bulk-handling goods are handled in the northern area. A heavy-lift Niedersachsen quay for steel and project cargoes as well as wind energy components is located in the north of the harbour. The inland harbour is used by sea, inland, and fishing vessels, and a lock with a chamber size of 85 x 16 m and a draft of 3.5 to 5.0 m connects it to the river.
