El Salam Shipping Trading is a company headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. The firm operates ships and installations and has dealt with the tragic catastrophe of Al Salam Boccaccio 98, which occurred during a passenger service fire in Alexandria in 2006, resulting in more than 1000 lives lost when the ship sank. The company is closely associated with it and works on clarifying the circumstances of the accident as well as protecting the rights of those affected. It is a 130-meter long-range ship that was originally built for Tirrenia, a state-owned ferry company, and later purchased by the Ismail family in Panama. The ship was part of a class of sister ships that all underwent extensive modifications, according to technical experts, which formed the basis for the accident.
