OEG, a leading provider of energy solutions, has secured a major contract from OWP Gennaker GmbH to deliver subsea corrosion protection for the 976.5 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm in the German Baltic Sea (The Maritime Executive). This project is part of the efforts by Skyborn Renewables, an offshore wind infrastructure platform, to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of their flagship development.
The contract involves providing Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems for the wind turbine foundations. OEG will be responsible for a complete end-to-end solution, including detailed engineering, procurement, manufacturing oversight, installation, testing, and commissioning (The Maritime Executive). The company will collaborate with cathodic protection specialist CORROSION to deploy the ICCP-Subsea Assembly Method (ICCP-SAM), which ensures safe and efficient remote installations of these systems on subsea structures.
According to Offshore Engineer, OEG's scope also includes working in partnership with CORROSION to support the project. The technology employed will help reduce installation complexity while enhancing offshore execution efficiency. Engineering and procurement activities are set to commence immediately, followed by manufacturing oversight, system integration, and installation as per the overall construction program.
The deal expands OEG's presence in the subsea space for renewable energy projects, including offshore wind foundations, grid turbines, and related infrastructure services (Offshore Energy). This contract underscores the growing importance of reliable corrosion protection measures in sustaining the performance of large-scale offshore installations.
