EIB loans €100 million for Klaipėda port expansion and clean-energy projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €100 million loan to help transform Lithuania’s largest seaport, Klaipėda, into a strategic gateway for defence, energy, and trade in the Baltic region. According to Ports Europe, this funding will support projects covering port infrastructure, clean energy, and military mobility. The EIB’s commitment is part of an overall investment programme valued at around €201 million, with completion scheduled by the end of 2027.

Infrastructure Upgrades

The Klaipėda State Seaport Authority will use the financing to adapt part of its civilian cruise-ship terminal and enhance overall port infrastructure.
