Shanghai Oil Chemical Plant is located in the southwest of Shanghai, close to Hangzhou Bay and adjacent to Zhejiang Pinghu. It is situated near Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone and Shanghai Carbon Valley Green Bay Park, covering an area of 9.4 square kilometers. The company was founded in 1972 as Shanghai Petrochemical General Factory and became China's first listed company on the Shanghai, Hong Kong, and New York stock exchanges in 1993. It is a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and one of the major integrated petrochemical enterprises in China.
